Seafarer's Day 2021 : Fair Future for Seafarers
In the wake of the COVID19 Pandemic, "maritime" is one of the greatly affected industry worldwide. Seafarers, just like all other essential personnel found themselves both in the front line of the global response and are all subject to a very tough working conditions due to uncertainties around port call/access, crew changes, repatriation, etc.
Last year's seafarer campaign focuses its message around urging the governments to recognize seafarers as a "key workers and ease travel restrictions for them to facilitate crew changes." **
The 2021 Day of the Seafarer will focus to continue encouraging our governments to support our Seafarers during this pandemic and to expand its message to call for a "fair future for seafarers."
This year's hashtag is #FairFuture4Seafarers. As per the International Maritime Organization, seafarers can use the hashtag to voice their position on what a fairer future for seafarers includes and looks like.
